Transform Your Life With an Implant Procedure

Before we proceed with implant placement, Dr. Schwartz will do a thorough exam and take CT scans of your mouth. It gives him a comprehensive understanding of your sinus ridge area. If it is determined that a sinus lift is necessary, he can perform the procedure to ensure your mouth has the necessary support for implants.

He may take one of two approaches:

  • Vertical Sinus Lift – This minimally invasive approach is typically performed along with implant placement. It’s for cases where additional height is required to accommodate the implants.
  • Lateral Sinus Lift – In this procedure, your dentist raises the sinus through a small opening in your jawbone and applies bone grafting material to create a stable foundation for your implant placement.

Depending on the type of sinus lift you receive, your mouth will need to heal before Dr. Schwartz places your implants. He uses platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), a substance created from your own blood supply, to encourage a faster recovery. Once you are fully healed, he will place your implants. A sinus lift is a type of bone graft that adds new bone to your upper jaw so that you can get dental implants inserted. Your dentist will place synthetic bone material in your upper jaw that will stimulate the growth of new bone cells. The floor of your sinuses is raised slightly to prepare for the bone growth, giving the procedure its name.

Are sinus lifts painful?
