Doctor Wolf Schwartz Talks about Relieving Dental Anxiety
Every patient is different of course and a lot of phobic reactions to dentists especially in the olden days all the patients who were hurt. Today our techniques are much softer much more gentle. For example the needles for injections are tiny you can hardly see them or feel them but I think it’s more you’re discussing with a patient finding out what actually makes them fear about the dentist. Sometimes it’s pain, sometimes it’s money, sometimes it’s just they don’t like dentists. So we spend a lot of time with that and then we’ll diagnose what pre-treatment if they need it some patients need. We may give them medication before, we may give them nitrous oxide while they’re having treatment to relax them. It depends on the patient himself.
